Maggie’s Vacation

Maggie Silver is on a forced vacation in Texas. Paid for by her boss, her assignment is to regroup and refresh after being blamed for a serious blunder on an important account. She chose Teller Texas based on a conversational exchange she’d had with someone she dated. The small town is barely a pin dot on a map with nothing more than a Dollar Store and a gas station.. The grocery store is in the next town over. Teller Lake Camps is located on a gorgeous lake and the place is practically empty so early in the spring. Besides Maggie and her friend Stacy the only other person around is the mysterious man next door. He almost never comes outside during the day and hasn’t spoken to either of them. But who cares? Maggie isn’t there to make friends.
When the two women renting the cabin near his house decide to party all night under the stars and he finds one of them sleeping on the lawn the next morning, Lucien Beaufort decides they have to go. One has already gone so he gives the other a warning to be out by 2 pm. Only she comes to the door and talks to him through the window. Her story piques his curiosity. She’s sincere when she begs forgiveness. The party wasn’t really that bad. He just has a lot on his mind with his mother in the hospital, wondering if she can continue to manage this camp ground on her own, working through his own recovery issues after a disfiguring burn injury, and deciding which of the options before him will become his future. Practically a recluse since the fire that changed his life, Lucien is yet to be comfortable venturing outside of his family circle – until Maggie Silver bulldozes her way into his life.
